Local (Guam)

  • GTA Youth Leader Program: Youth leadership and service-recognition program with academic scholarships and other prizes; eligibility: Guam residents enrolled in a local high school for SY 2026–27, with a 3.0+ cumulative GPA, leadership experience, and a recommendation; deadline: August 30, 2026.
  • Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program (GSYEP): Paid summer work experience through the Guam Department of Youth Affairs; eligibility: Guam residents ages 15–17 for the 2026 childcare component; application window: announced annually in spring.
  • Guam Department of Labor Youth Program / Passport to Careers: Career exploration, work experience, mentoring, internships, and training. The Year-Round In-School Youth Employment pathway provides eligible 11th- and 12th-grade students ages 16–18 with career-readiness training and paid summer work experience; broader Youth Program eligibility includes published income and employment-barrier criteria. Application window: year-round through the American Job Center.
  • Guam Green Growth Youth Conservation Corps (via GSYEP): Paid hands-on sustainability, conservation, agriculture, aquaculture, and renewable-energy experience through the Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program; eligibility: Guam high school students selected through GSYEP; application window: apply to GSYEP when the annual summer cycle opens.
  • Junior Achievement Company Program: Entrepreneurship program where students run their own business; eligibility: Guam high school students (Grades 9-12); application window: September - October.
  • UOG Advanced High School Program: Earn college credit while completing high school; eligibility and available terms depend on UOG's current published requirements. Fall 2026 applications have closed; check UOG for the next cycle.
  • UOG TRiO Upward Bound: Free college-preparation program with tutoring, summer coursework, college/financial-aid support, and activities; eligibility: first-generation and/or low-income Guam high school students in grades 9–12 who meet GPA and citizenship/residency criteria; application window: annual. Confirm with UOG.
  • Guam Youth Congress: Civic-leadership body established under Guam law that gives young leaders a platform for civic participation, leadership development, and youth-policy work; eligibility: Guam youth and student representatives who meet the current selection requirements; application window: confirm the current representative-selection cycle directly with Guam Youth Congress.

Regional (Pacific/Asia)

  • Pacific STEP-UP Guam High School Research Program: Mentored summer research at UOG or another local agency, with an annual Guam Local High School Summer Research Symposium and a chance for two students to present at the National High School STEP-UP Scientific Research Symposium in Washington, D.C.; eligibility: confirm current Guam high school requirements with the program; application period: November 15–February 15 annually. A participation allowance is provided after successful completion.

National (U.S.)

  • Anson L. Clark Scholars Program: Summer research program at Texas Tech University; eligibility: check the official program's current age, grade, and application requirements. The 2026 program is complete; monitor the official page for a future cycle.
  • MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI): Project-based STEM program for high-achieving students entering senior year of high school; review the official program for current location, eligibility, and application details.
  • Caltech Up Close: A fall fly-in program for prospective students; eligibility: check Caltech's current published class-year and residency requirements. The 2026 application has closed; monitor the official page for future dates.
  • Explore Bowdoin: A fly-in program for students to visit Bowdoin College; eligibility: US high school seniors intending to enter college in Fall 2027; deadline: August 11.
  • FLEX Abroad: Exchange program for students to live and study in another country; eligibility: US citizens, high school students; application window: Fall.
  • Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program: Paid, eight-week fisheries and aquatic-science mentorship/internship with a $3,000 scholarship after successful completion; eligibility: high school students living in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Mexico, or Canada. Applicants must be matched with a mentor within about 30–45 minutes of home, so Guam mentor availability must be confirmed; application window: 2027 applications open in November 2026.
  • MITES (MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science): Summer STEM program at MIT; eligibility: US high school juniors; deadline: February 1.
  • NASA STEM Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES): NASA-supported STEM research experience with virtual research, a science symposium, and selected on-site projects at the University of Texas Center for Space Research; eligibility: U.S.-citizen high school sophomores or juniors who are at least 16 by the program start date. The 2026 cycle is closed; monitor the next annual cycle. Some on-site projects may require travel, with limited travel scholarships potentially available.
  • NAVFAC Pathways Internship Program: Paid federal career-exploration internships offered through Navy Facilities Engineering Systems Command and USAJOBS; eligibility: current high school students (or students accepted at least part-time in a qualifying educational program), subject to each job announcement’s age, citizenship, location, and hiring requirements; application window: opportunities posted individually on USAJOBS.
  • NSLI-Y (National Security Language Initiative for Youth): Language immersion programs abroad; eligibility: US citizens, high school students, 15-18 years old; deadline: October/November.
  • Naval STEM Interns (SEAP): Eight-week, paid science and engineering apprenticeship at participating Department of Navy laboratories; eligibility: currently enrolled high school students who have completed grade 9, generally age 16+ by the internship start date, with U.S. citizenship required by most laboratories; application window: August 1–November 1 annually. Guam students may apply, but must meet a selected laboratory’s requirements and arrange housing.
  • PROMYS: Intensive mathematics program at Boston University; eligibility: high school students who meet the current program requirements. The 2026 application cycle has passed; monitor the official page for the next cycle.
  • RISE (Research in Science and Engineering): Summer research program at Boston University; eligibility: domestic students who meet the current grade and program requirements. The 2026 application is closed; check the official page for future cycles.
  • Research Science Institute (RSI): Intensive summer research program at MIT; eligibility: High school juniors; deadline: January.
  • SAMS (Summer Academy for Math and Science): Pre-college program at Carnegie Mellon; eligibility: US high school juniors (16+ years old) with financial need; deadline: February/March.
  • SSP (Summer Science Program): Residential summer research experience in astrophysics or biochemistry; eligibility: High school juniors; deadline: February.
  • Simons Summer Research Program: Hands-on research at Stony Brook University; eligibility: check the official program's current grade, age, and residency requirements. The 2026 application is closed; monitor the official page for future cycles.
  • Stanford SIMR: Stanford Institutes of Medicine Summer Research Program; eligibility: US high school juniors/seniors (16+ years old); deadline: February.
  • Stanford SUMaC: Stanford University Mathematics Camp; eligibility: high school students who meet the current grade and program requirements. The 2026 application is closed; monitor the official page for future cycles.
  • U.S. Service Academies: Federal undergraduate military academies; eligibility, nomination, and application requirements vary by academy, so review the official academy and applicable nomination process.
  • YES Abroad: Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study program for study abroad; eligibility: US citizens, high school students; application window: Fall.
  • Yale Summer Program in Astrophysics (YSPA): Research-based summer program at Yale; eligibility: High school juniors; deadline: February.

International

  • United World Colleges (UWC) / UWC-USA: Two-year International Baccalaureate education at UWC campuses worldwide; eligibility: U.S. citizens or permanent residents, including qualifying Guam students, may use the U.S. application pathway. Students typically begin at age 16 or 17; confirm current age, selection, financial-assistance, and application-cycle requirements directly with UWC-USA.
  • Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS): Summer enrichment program for students from around the world; eligibility: High school students (16-18 years old); deadline: January.
